President's Message - May 2005

Our April meeting was a great success. The afternoon seminar presented by Philippa Samworth of Dutton Brock was informative and provided some insight into the anticipated legislative changes. Thank you to Michael Cherrie, seminar chairperson, for organizing the event. The seminar was followed by an evening of recognition of our Past Presidents and Honourary Members for their contributions to this association. Attendees were entertained by the humour of Bill Carr. I thank the committee, led by Lee-Ann Vansteenkiste, for an excellent event.

This month is our Out-of-Town meeting hosted by the Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter. This is a great opportunity to network with members from across the province, take in some educational seminars and meet the service providers from around the province. We are certain to receive some great hospitality from this chapter and are sure the event will be enjoyed by all.

This month I had the pleasure of attending the Georgian Bay Chapter meeting, which was an evening of recognition for their Past Presidents. This is a chapter with some great history, and the evening was well attended and enjoyable.

With the warm weather having arrived, our final event of the year is our ever-popular golf tournament, held at Rolling Hills Golf and Country Club in Stouffville. It is a large undertaking to organize over 550 golfers over four courses, and we thank the entire committee, Norm McGlashan, Ian Gallagher and Bob Carscadden.

We look forward to seeing you at the Out-of-Town meeting in Kitchener and the golf tournaments.

Respectfully,
Spencer Bailey, AIIC,
President
