President's Message - April 2005
It has been a busy time for all of us getting into the full swing of spring. With it, we are seeing the new prospective changes to the automobile legislation in Ontario. Given the new proposals and changes in law, we have enlisted the aid of Phillipa Samworth of Dutton, Brock to present a seminar, “The New, the Old and the Unexpected”. We hope that all of you can take advantage of this opportunity. Phillipa is entertaining and promises to enlighten us all with her quick wit and knowledge of upcoming changes in both law and legislation. More information about this seminar can be found on page 40. Following this seminar, we will be honouring our Past Presidents and the Honourary Members of the Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association. We have Toronto Delegate Elections following dinner, and once the business is taken care of, we can enjoy the antics of comedian extraordinaire, Bill Carr. Bill is from the east coast and his entertainment will be remembered!! I hope to see all of you at the seminar and dinner meeting. I had the opportunity to attend the Windsor Chapter and Northern Chapter and get to know the executive and local members of those chapters. Windsor hosted the very first OIAA Chili Cook-off. The event had an enormous attendance and competition was fierce for the championship title. I would like to extend my congratulations to the Windsor Chapter for its new concept. The Northern Chapter held its Annual Curling Bonspiel in Sudbury, followed by a dinner and dance. The event had over 85 attendees and demonstrated that even though distance may at times separate the members, they really do come together well to participate and support the local chapter. Thank you to both Chapters for the invitations. The Bursary awards are being presented to those applicants who won a bursary submitted on behalf of a Chapter. Congratulations to all who received awards. May is fast approaching, and with it comes the Out-of-Town Meeting. The Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter is hosting the event this year, and it promises to be educational and entertaining. We hope you can join us for the event. The registration is found on page 42.

Respectfully,
Spencer Bailey, AIIC,
President
