It’s amazing how quickly seven years has gone! During that time on Executive, I have met and worked with some very talented and dedicated people, and have come to appreciate more and more the importance of this great association. I am honoured to be serving as your President for the current year. While many of you were taking vacations, your Executive was hard at work this summer preparing the events for the year ahead. We continuously review and improve on what we offer members, and this year is no exception. We are implementing a number of changes.
First, what seemed impossible in the past, when it seems there was nothing more that could be done to improve this magazine, we now have the ability to print in full colour. This without question makes this magazine second to none in the claims industry. Congratulations to Laurie Walker and the entire Without Prejudice committee for this fantastic achievement.
Our first meeting of the year has always been our opportunity to acknowledge our Past Presidents and Honorary Members. This is an important event for us, but we will be moving it to April, and at our first meeting we will be holding three seminars in the afternoon, running concurrently, followed by a mix-and-mingle. This will increase the number of seminars we are offering to you throughout the year. Details of this event can be found on page 35 in this magazine, and you will notice the location change. In an effort to be convenient to all members, our events will take place at different locations throughout the city during the year. Watch for details each month.
One of the benefits of being President is attending the various chapters and meeting the membership from across the province. Steve Martin, First Vice-President, and I attended the Thunder Bay chapter golf tournament in July and had an exceptional time, as did I again in Ottawa, when I was joined by Frank Castaldo, Past President, and Laurie Walker, Secretary. Thank you again to each chapter. I look forward to future visits throughout the province.
For individuals working in this industry, the importance of networking and education is immeasurable, and as an association we will continue to provide these opportunities to you. Sharpen some old skills or learn some new ones, or meet someone new. Come out and join us October 13, 2004, at the St. Andrews Club. I hope to see you there.
