President's Message - December 2003
Well, before we knew it, the winter season arrived, and so has that white fluffy stuff we refer to as snow. Some look forward to the arrival of the snow, so they can enjoy skiing, snowmobiling, tobogganing and outdoor ice skating, just to mention a few things. For some of us - well, snow means we have to take out our winter clothes, pull out our snow shovels (some of us get to take out our snow blowers) and guess what: we have to clean snow. But that’s not such a bad thing. Just think: we all chose to live in Canada, and in particular in Ontario, so we must love snow. All we have to do is think of snow removal as a sport, like the others I mentioned. It’s exercise, and that is something our doctors tell us we should do more often. So the next time a family member sees you get dressed up in your warm winter clothes after a snowfall and asks where you are going, you just say, “To the sporting event known as snow removal, would you like to join me?” The one good thing about being in the cold is coming in after and warming up with a hot drink, possibly sitting in front of a fire or, best of all, cuddling up with a loved one. Doesn’t this make you feel warm? So this winter, let’s all think positive - that will make winter seem very short, and we may even look forward to seeing it come again next year. This month the OIAA annual Christmas party is being held at the Sheraton Centre; it has always proven to be a great time for all attendees. If you haven’t got your ticket yet, you can try to call the OIAA office to see if there are any still available, as this event sells out quickly. Please remember: have a fantastic time, but please don’t drink and drive; friends don’t let their friends drink and drive. If you don’t have a friend that night, please come see me, I will be your friend for life: I will personally make sure you get home safely. I look forward to seeing you all there.
Our next event will be the OIAA Trade Show, being held February 4, 2004, at the Toronto Convention Centre. Please take a look at our advertisement this month. We have some very interesting seminars, which have been geared to all levels of adjusting. Please mark this date in your calendar; it will be a day of education you would not want to miss.
This is the Christmas season, a time when we all reflect on giving. Keep in mind that a gift does not have to have monetary value. If you can provide the less fortunate with a smile when you wish them a Merry Christmas, or provide a group with some of your time, these are gifts that they will never forget. I hope to see many of you before Christmas so I can personally wish you the best, but for the ones I won’t see, I want to wish all of you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a very successful New Year, from the bottom of my heart.

Respectfully,
Frank Castaldo,
President
