President's Message - November 2003
As we enter the month of November, we once again begin to experience a further change in our weather. With the change in weather, we enter the month of remembrance, with Remembrance Day on November 11th, 2003. On that day we remember the individuals who have fought for their country in order to bring peace to the wonderful country we live in. On that day we should also remember the innocent people who lost their lives as a result of the September 11 attack in the U.S., as well the individuals who are still fighting for peace in the world. Please take a minute on November 11th, 2003, to remember and reflect on the accomplishments of all the individuals who have lost their lives for peace in the world.
In keeping with the theme of remembrance, we should also focus on our personal lives. Much too often we get caught up in busy schedules and our hectic life styles that at times are not within our control. Let’s all take some time this month and attempt to spend some valuable time with our loved ones. These individuals play a very important role in our lives, and they also need to be recognized as being important. Please take the opportunity this month to spend time with your loved ones and do those things you been meaning to do all year with them. The reward you will receive in doing this cannot be put into words; it will be experienced.
Our November seminar is focusing on Emerging Threshold Trends in Ontario, and it is guaranteed to be educational and informative. I wish to thank Steven Baldwin, Mark Charron, Alex Demeo, Jim Adams, Howard Lightle and David Murray for offering to provide us with their expertise and knowledge as presenters at the seminar. I am confident that this seminar will exceed the expectations of all who have registered to attend. We appreciate the support that we have received from the insurance industry in attending the seminar. The goal of the OIAA is to continue providing high-quality and inexpensive education for our members and the insurance industry; your continued support is greatly appreciated. If you have any feedback or suggestions for future seminars, please contact the executive council, as we value your input.
Next month we will be having our annual Christmas party, on December 10, 2003, at the Sheraton Centre. Please refer to the advertisement in this month’s issue of WP. Chairperson Geoff Sullivan and his Christmas committee have negotiated a reduced room rate at the Sheraton Centre, so you won’t have to worry about drinking and driving. All the attendees of the Christmas party are important to the OIAA, so if you plan on drinking, please take advantage of the reduced room rate and spend the night at the Sheraton Centre, you will feel that much better in the morning.
On a final note, the next time you see a fellow insurance worker, take the time to shake hands and say, “It is a pleasure to work with you in the insurance industry”; it will put a smile on both your faces.

Respectfully,
Frank Castaldo,
President
Ontario Insurance Adjusters Association
