President's Message - April 2003

“Let go of your attachment to being right, and suddenly your mind is more open. You’re able to benefit from the unique viewpoints of others, without being crippled by your own judgement.” – Ralph Marston

As the month of April arrives and spring is in the air, we note that it is election time around the province. It is the time of year for each and every one of you to look back and peer into the future, and evaluate how much time a commitment to this organization actually takes. Not much, as anyone who is currently on the local executive can tell you. Get involved and see how fulfilling the experience actually is. We all know that time is precious, but just think – you might meet a new friend, or better yet a new business contact. So consider this as my final push to get all of our members involved.

As you will note in the advertisements in this month’s issue, the Out-of-Town has changed to the month of May. As I have mentioned previously, this is going to be my homecoming. So please mark in your schedule May 29-30, 2003, make that short trip up north to Sudbury, and attend the Out-of-Town meeting. I know Bob Carscadden and his committee have scheduled terrific events.

During the month of April, I plan to attend events in the Thousand Island chapter, and I will let you know how things went next report.

Our dinner meeting speaker for April 9, 2003, is Leslie Rose, who is speaking on “Optimal Stress for Optimal Performance.” He will be our speaker on election night in Toronto.

One last item – our annual golf tournament, which is being held at Rolling Hills on Friday, June 13, 2003. The usual format is in place. This year, Station Creek is also a shotgun start. See page 41.

Please remember to attend your local election night and cast your vote.

Talk to you soon.

Respectfully,
